Employees of Playtime Co. disappeared from the factory in the independent horror film Poppy Playtime ten years ago, but the tapes left behind hinted that something went wrong.

Poppy Playtime invites players to enter the abandoned Playtime Co. toy factory to find out the whereabouts of factory employees who disappeared ten years ago. As a former employee of the company, the player received a VHS tape called "Vintage Poppy Commercial" from Playtime, and a note claiming that the factory employees were still inside.

The factory is the home of the terrible Huggy Wuggy, and the player must escape when passing through. Players can find many secrets in Playtime Co.’s most popular toys and try to figure out what went wrong ten years ago. Since there is only one chapter in the game, the past of the factory has not been revealed, but the first clue can be found in the VHS tape that someone left for the player to find.

The Playtime Co. factory has five VHS tapes. Although listening to these tapes is optional, in most cases, players who want to piece together what happened to Playtime Co. employees will want to find these tapes before the release of Chapter 2 to collect as many clues as possible.

At the beginning of Poppy Playtime, players will see a green tape entitled "Leith Pierre, Closing" at the front desk of the factory. The green VCR is on the right. In this videotape, players will hear Leith Pierre brag about the factory’s security system to warn intruders.

The blue tape is the only tape that needs to be carried out in the game. It can be found in the safe room on the table to the left of the GrabPack compartment. Players must watch the GrabPack training video to open the GrabPack compartment.

After following Huggy Wuggy along the Staff Only corridor in Poppy Playtime, the player will find the yellow VCR in the far corner of the first room. The door of Bay 2 is temporarily closed, so players must climb up the runway to enter the next room. From the T stage, there are many shelves on the left. The yellow VHS named "Security Camera, Rich & Avery" is located on the second shelf of the Bay 2 door, and players can now open it to return to the yellow VCR.

Once the player enters the Make-A-Friend room in Poppy Playtime, there will be a set of stairs on the right side of the conveyor belt leading to the catwalk above. The pink VCR is at the top of these stairs. Players must use GrabPack to pull a section of the catwalk over to cross. The pink tape can be found on the right side of the section. The tape is labeled "Interview with Stella Grayber" and will be part of Stella's interview with Playtime Co.. Stella Grayber is voiced by Nola Klop, who is also the voice of Poppy, so the two may be related.

The last tape in Poppy Playtime has no title and can be found on the runway before the last turn to Poppy. Walk along the T station on the right and the player will find the grey video recorder at the end. On this tape is a log of experiment 1 0 06, and screams and percussions can be heard during the whole process. Just before the scientist was able to finish, the tape was suddenly interrupted, indicating that the tape was probably recorded in any incident that led to the disappearance of employees in the factory 10 years ago.
